Cooking performance and flexibility
The Bosch PVQ731H26E induction hob provides four 19 x 21cm cooking zones, each rated at 2.5kW with a 3.7kW boost setting. All four zones support PowerBoost, while 17 power levels give useful control from gentle simmering to rapid heating.
Two CombiZones allow adjacent zones to be combined for larger cookware. That is particularly useful with roasting trays and elongated pans, although this is a combined-zone system rather than a full-surface induction layout.
PerfectFry Plus adds 11 frying-temperature settings, while DirectSelect controls provide direct access to cooking zones, power levels and additional functions.
Integrated ventilation
The integrated downdraft extractor is the Bosch PVQ731H26E induction hob's main selling point. It can provide up to 500m³/h in normal ducted operation and 622m³/h on boost, drawing steam and cooking odours down through the cooking surface rather than requiring a separate overhead hood.
Recirculating installation is also supported, with published extraction figures of up to 487m³/h normally and 595m³/h on boost. Recirculation requires odour filters, and Bosch specifies a 94% grease-filtration efficiency for the system.
The AutoOn function can start the ventilation automatically when a cooking zone is used. Maximum normal extraction is rated at 69dB, rising to 74dB in boost mode, so strong extraction is accompanied by clearly audible fan noise.
Controls, connectivity and installation
Home Connect adds connected appliance functions and remote service support, although internet access and account registration are required for connected features. The hob also includes practical functions such as PowerBoost, residual-heat indication, child lock, pause and automatic safety shut-off.
This is a substantial built-in appliance measuring 223 x 710 x 522mm, with a specified installation niche of 223 x 560 x 490mm. It has a 7.4kW connection rating, no fitted plug and requires electrical connection by a qualified electrician.
The manufacturer lists an energy-efficiency class B for the integrated ventilation system. That is a solid result for a venting hob, although the extraction motor remains less efficient than an appliance in the top energy class.
