This Cookie Policy explains how Eastpoint Group Ltd, trading through BestBuysUK, uses cookies and other technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device when you visit bestbuysuk.co.uk.

It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal information more generally.

A cookie is a small file or piece of information stored on a computer, phone, tablet or other device when a website is used. Cookies can support essential functions, remember choices, measure how a service is used or help deliver advertising.

UK rules are not limited to traditional cookies. They can also apply to technologies such as pixels, tags, scripts, browser storage, device identifiers and other methods that store information on, or access information from, a user's device. In this policy, references to “cookies” include these similar storage and access technologies where appropriate.

Our use of cookies and similar technologies is governed principally by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended, and by UK data-protection law including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 where personal data is involved.

Unless a legal exception applies, PECR requires us to provide clear information about the technology and obtain valid consent before using it. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed and indicated by a clear positive action. Rejecting optional technologies should be as straightforward as accepting them, and consent can be withdrawn later.

Some technologies may be used without consent where a specific PECR exception applies. Examples can include technologies strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested. Current UK law also contains limited exceptions for certain statistical and appearance/functionality purposes, subject to their statutory conditions, including providing appropriate information and a simple means of objecting where required. We do not treat those exceptions as a blanket permission for tracking or advertising.

BestBuysUK uses Cookiebot™ by Usercentrics, provided by Usercentrics A/S, as our consent-management platform (CMP).

Cookiebot is configured with automatic blocking. Its purpose is to identify cookies and trackers on BestBuysUK, present the consent banner, store your consent preferences and help prevent technologies that require consent from operating before the relevant choice has been made.

Cookiebot also provides its own Privacy Trigger and the live Cookie Declaration further down this page. These controls allow you to inspect your current consent status and, where applicable, change or withdraw your choices. We therefore do not add a separate BestBuysUK “Cookie Settings” control on top of Cookiebot's own controls.

6. Necessary BestBuysUK session

BestBuysUK uses a necessary PHP session for core website and security functions. It supports functionality including anti-forgery (CSRF) protection, contact-form handling, temporary status messages and short-term controls designed to stop repeated actions from being counted incorrectly.

The corresponding session cookie is a session-level technology and the server-side BestBuysUK session is configured to expire after approximately 30 minutes of inactivity. Disabling a strictly necessary session cookie may prevent forms or security-related functionality from working correctly.

7. Affiliate links and external retailers

BestBuysUK is an affiliate product-comparison website and may link to Amazon and other retailers. A normal affiliate link does not give BestBuysUK permission to set a retailer's optional tracking technologies on your device before you leave our website.

When you choose to click an external retailer link, you leave BestBuysUK. The destination website may then use its own cookies, identifiers or similar technologies in accordance with its own privacy and cookie information. Those third-party websites control their own technologies and consent mechanisms.

8. Third-party content and services

Some website functions or resources may be supplied by third parties. For example, Cookiebot itself is loaded from Usercentrics infrastructure, and permitted product imagery may in some cases be loaded from an external manufacturer source.

Where an external service uses storage or access technologies on BestBuysUK, we aim to ensure that it is correctly identified and controlled through our consent configuration where required. The live Cookiebot declaration is used to provide the most current cookie-by-cookie information.

9. How to change or withdraw consent

You can review, change or withdraw your optional consent using Cookiebot's own Privacy Trigger or the consent controls contained in the Cookie Declaration below.

Withdrawing consent does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful. After you change your preference, technologies controlled by that preference will be handled in accordance with the updated choice, subject to the operation of your browser and any legal retention requirements.

You can also delete cookies through your browser. Browser controls are separate from Cookiebot and vary by browser and device. Deleting the cookie that stores your consent choice may cause the consent banner to appear again on a later visit.

10. How long cookies last

Different cookies have different lifetimes. Some are deleted when you close your browser, while others may remain for a defined period. Rather than maintaining a static list that may become outdated, the Cookie Declaration below shows the duration/expiry information currently supplied for each detected technology.

Cookiebot may also retain information necessary to demonstrate and manage the consent choice made through its service. The duration for which consent is remembered can depend on our Cookiebot configuration and applicable legal requirements.

11. Current Cookie Declaration

The declaration below is supplied directly by Cookiebot using the Domain Group configured for BestBuysUK. It is designed to update as Cookiebot scans the website and records the cookies and trackers it detects.

12. Cookiebot / Usercentrics

Cookiebot is provided by Usercentrics A/S, Havnegade 39, 1058 Copenhagen, Denmark. The service may process technical information required to provide the consent platform and maintain consent records, such as a consent identifier, consent status, time/date, domain information and ordinary technical connection information.

13. International processing

Some third-party providers or external websites may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where Eastpoint Group Ltd itself makes a restricted transfer of personal data, we will use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism where one is required.

When you leave BestBuysUK for an external retailer or other independent website, that site's own privacy and international-transfer arrangements apply to its processing.

14. Keeping our cookie inventory accurate

Cookie technology can change when website functionality or third-party services change. We use Cookiebot's scanning and classification tools to help identify technologies present on BestBuysUK.

We will review relevant scan information, including unclassified technologies, and update our configuration or notices where reasonably necessary. The appearance of a technology in the declaration does not by itself mean that it is permitted to run before consent; its actual treatment depends on its purpose, classification, our configuration and applicable law.

15. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this policy when the website, applicable law, our consent settings or the technologies we use change. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page identifies the current version.

If a material change means that fresh consent is required, we will take reasonable steps to request it through the consent mechanism.
