🏆 Review & price summary

The AEG TO84IA00FB induction hob is a wide 78cm appliance with four identical 210mm zones, giving every cooking area the same 2,300W standard output and 3,200W PowerBoost capability. It is particularly well suited to cooks who want fast heat-up, direct numbered touch control and a practical timer without paying for a more complex flexible-zone layout.

✓ Key strengths

  • ✓ Four powerful 210mm induction zones, each with a 3, 200W PowerBoost setting
  • ✓ Numbered heat levels from 1 to 14
  • ✓ Hob2Hood can automatically adjust a compatible cooker hood
  • ✓ Useful pause, timer, Minute Minder, EcoTimer and child-lock functions
  • ✓ Wide 780mm appliance format with a relatively low 44mm installation height

Worth considering

  • Cooking areas for large griddles or unusually shaped cookware
  • All four zones are the same 210mm size, offering less zone-size variety than some wide induction hobs
  • Hardwired connection only, with a relatively high 7.2kW total electrical loading that needs suitable installation planning
  • Are limited compared with more advanced induction hobs

Cooking performance

The AEG TO84IA00FB induction hob uses four matching 210mm cooking zones, each rated at 2,300W with a 3,200W PowerBoost setting. That gives it a straightforward layout for everyday cooking and strong short-term power for boiling water or heating pans quickly.

The absence of flexible bridge zones means the hob is best suited to conventional round cookware rather than large griddles or unusually shaped pans. All four zones share the same diameter, so there is less zone-size variety than on some wider induction hobs.

Controls and everyday use

Direct Touch controls use numbered settings from 1 to 14, making it quicker to select a heat level than repeatedly pressing plus or minus controls. The built-in timer can run for up to one hour and switches the selected zone off when it finishes.

Pause, Minute Minder, child lock and automatic switch-off add useful day-to-day control. Hob2Hood can also adjust a compatible cooker hood automatically as cooking heat changes, although it does not provide assisted cooking sensors.

Installation and design

The black built-in hob measures 780mm wide and 520mm deep, with a 44mm-high installation profile and a required cut-out of 750 x 490mm. Its bevelled finish on two sides gives it a relatively clean appearance when installed into the worktop.

This model is hardwired rather than supplied with a plug, and its 7.2kW total electrical loading means installation should be planned with a suitable electrical connection and qualified installation support.

Efficiency and features

EcoTimer is designed to use residual heat by switching a zone off before the end of the timed cooking period. Induction heating also gives fast temperature response and transfers heat directly to suitable cookware rather than heating the surrounding glass surface first.

The feature set is useful without being unusually advanced: PowerBoost, Hob2Hood, pause, timer, Minute Minder, child lock and automatic switch-off are all present, but flexible cooking zones and assisted cooking sensors are not.
