Cooking performance and flexibility
Five gas burners give the Smeg SR975XGH plenty of flexibility for cooking with multiple pans. The UltraRapid burner is designed to provide up to 4kW of power, making it well suited to tasks that benefit from rapid heating.
Rotary dial controls offer direct adjustment of the gas flame, while the five-zone layout gives cooks more room to organise pans across the 75cm surface.
Build, safety and design
The heavy-duty cast-iron pan supports are designed to resist high temperatures and provide a sturdy platform for cookware. They are also described as cleanable with detergent and wire wool, although care is needed to preserve their finish.
Safety valves add an important layer of protection by cutting off the gas flow if a flame is accidentally extinguished. The stainless-steel finish and retro Victoria styling make this a visually prominent appliance rather than a purely functional cooking surface.
Installation considerations
The hob is designed for gas installation and can be converted to LPG using the supplied kit. Gas and LPG work should be completed in accordance with applicable installation requirements by a suitably qualified professional.
Its 75cm width should be checked against the available worktop space before purchase, particularly when replacing a narrower hob.
