Manufacturer evidence is used for the 220-litre total volume and freezer operating guidance.
Storage and layout
The Blomberg KGM4524 fridge freezer provides 220 litres of usable storage, divided between a 143-litre fridge compartment and a 77-litre freezer. The 50/50-style layout gives the freezer a useful amount of space for a compact freestanding appliance, although the total capacity is better suited to smaller households than to large weekly shops.
Inside, there are three glass shelves including the crisper cover, two adjustable shelves, three full-width door racks, an egg tray and one salad crisper drawer. The freezer has three drawers, making it easier to separate different types of frozen food.
Cooling and convenience
Frost-free freezer operation prevents ice build-up and removes the need for routine manual defrosting. The freezer also has a four-star rating and a stated freezing capacity of 5.5kg in 24 hours, which is suitable for normal household freezing needs.
Food Protector Technology allows the freezer to continue operating in ambient temperatures down to -15°C, although the manufacturer does not recommend using the fridge compartment in low ambient conditions. LED interior lighting and reversible doors are practical additions for everyday use.
Installation and everyday use
At 152.8cm high, 54cm wide and 57.5cm deep, the Blomberg KGM4524 fridge freezer is aimed at kitchens with limited width. It is freestanding rather than integrated, and the door can be changed from right-hand to left-hand opening to suit the installation.
The manufacturer specifies a 38dB noise level and noise emission class C. That should be acceptable for general kitchen use, but it is not positioned as a particularly quiet appliance. Adequate ventilation and clearance around the cabinet are required for efficient operation.
Efficiency and verdict
The E energy rating places this model in the lower-middle part of the current appliance scale. Its stated energy consumption is 220kWh per year, so it offers useful frost-free functionality but is not among the most efficient fridge freezers available.
Overall, the Blomberg KGM4524 fridge freezer is a straightforward, practical choice for buyers prioritising a narrow freestanding format, reversible doors and frost-free freezer storage. Its main compromises are the modest total capacity, E energy rating and lack of water or ice-dispensing features.
